Addison meets you there. The **Apps** tab on the **Connectors** page connects tools your team already uses. Unlike the **Data** tab, connecting an app doesn't create datasets. It lets [Addison](/features/addison) call that app directly while you chat. Available apps are grouped by category: AI with Exa ('Search and extract structured content from across the internet with Exa.'), and Analytics with Domo ('Connect to Domo analytics, datasets, dashboards, and business intelligence workflows.'), PostHog ('Analyze PostHog events, product analytics, feature flags, experiments, and sessions.'), and Tableau ('Access Tableau sites, projects, workbooks, views, and analytics assets.'). Each card has an icon, a description, and a + button to connect. ## Available apps Apps are grouped by category on the tab. New apps are added regularly. If the one you need isn't listed, see [Custom apps](#custom-apps) below. ## Connect an app Go to **Connectors** in the left nav, then switch to the **Apps** tab. Browse by category or use **Search**, then select **+** on the app's card. A dialog explains what access you're granting. Select **Connect**. Most apps hand off to that provider's own sign-in to authorize access. Connecting an app isn't enough on its own. In the chat composer, open the **+** menu, then **App connectors**, and toggle the app on for that conversation. Once an app is enabled, ask Addison to read from it and turn what it finds into lasting context: "Summarize our latest Gmail thread with Acme Corp into a [guide](/features/knowledge#guides)," or "Read our Shopify orders and define gross margin as a [metric](/features/knowledge#metrics)." ## Custom apps If the app you need isn't in the catalog: * **Request an app** tells us what to add. * **Add custom app** (top-right of the Apps tab) connects any app that exposes its own MCP server directly. Sign-in is detected automatically. Most servers do not need any additional setup.'), a collapsed 'Advanced OAuth settings' section, a warning 'Only use connectors from developers you trust. Summation doesn't control or verify third-party connectors. They may not work as intended, and they can change without notice.', and Cancel / Connect buttons. Sign-in is detected automatically for most servers. Summation figures out whether the server needs OAuth and walks you through it. Only add servers from developers you trust: Summation doesn't build, control, or verify third-party MCP servers, so they may not work as intended and can change without notice. ## Manage connected apps Connected apps move to a **Connected** section at the top of the Apps tab, where you can **View Connector Details** or **Disconnect**. Third-party apps aren't built or maintained by Summation, so review the permissions before connecting. Summation doesn't train models on your connector content, and you can disconnect at any time. ## Common problems | Symptom | Likely cause | | ---------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | App doesn't appear in the composer | The connector isn't **Active** yet, or it hasn't been enabled for this specific chat. | | Authorization fails or is denied | The third-party account doesn't have the permissions the app is requesting, or its own SSO blocked the hand-off. | | Disconnecting from the app doesn't stick | Access is also managed on the provider's side, under MCP settings. Disconnect there as well. | | The app I need isn't listed | Use **Request an app**, or connect it yourself with a custom MCP server URL. | Apps are a different feature from [Applications](/features/applications) (also called SumApps), the purpose-built tools listed under **Applications** in the left nav. Apps connect third-party tools into a chat; Applications are standalone tools built for your workspace.
